- - Funj: the Funj are one of the ethnic groups of Sudan. They were Muslims who had been Pagan or Christian before they converted into Islam. They created an Empire and a dynasty that lasted until 1821, though even before this date their authority was nominal. Its economy was mostly based on the Islamic Slave Trade but also on farming and cattle.
- - Kongo: the Kongo are a group of African peoples that belong to the Bantu- ethnicity. Their language is Kikongo and they were some of the first Sub-saharan Africans that converted to Christianity in the 15th century. They created the Kingdom of Congo that existed from the 14th through the 20th century. They are now split between the African nations of Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo and Angola. Many of them are farmers but also many highly influential political representatives in the countries were they are based are part of their ethnic group.
- - Lupa: also known as Lopawa, Kirkjir, Lopa are one of the small ethnic groups of Nigeria, based mostly in the Benue state. They are mostly Muslims (60%) and Christians (40%). They are mostly farmers and they do not make part of the most numerous ethnicity of their state.
