To know the value of both numbers, you can divide the numerator (the top number) by the denominator (the bottom number) :

[tex]\frac{33}{40}[/tex] = 33 ÷ 40 = 0.825
By doing that, you can easily see that [tex]\frac{33}{40}[/tex] is bigger than [tex]\frac{3}{4}[/tex] .
Your answer could be : [tex]\frac{3}{4} < \frac{33}{40}[/tex] , which means that [tex]\frac{3}{4}[/tex] is smaller than [tex]\frac{33}{40}[/tex] .
