let us assume that the height of the frame after reduces width to 3in be = x
than the equation becomes

we get
[tex]\frac{9}{6} = \frac{3}{x}[/tex]
solve the above
[tex]x = \frac{6\times3}{9}[/tex]
x = 2in
therefore 2in tall will be the frame .
