In smaller states, however, people believe that voting may have less relevance, as political representation is less and this can interfere with the number of votes in the state. However, it is important to emphasize that voting is relevant in any situation and is a social obligation.

Opinion polls were created so that there was a possibility to predict the success or failure of a political campaign. The intention is that, through these surveys, candidates would have an idea about the need to change their campaign or continue it in the way that society pleases. However, the opinion poll may present results that are different from reality, as in the case of the election of Truman, who became president, even if the polls stated otherwise. However, Truman's election was not supported by the popular vote, as the opinion poll predicted.
