relative location means position of a place in relation to other places, a general description. It's described by landmarks, time, direction, or distance from one place.
absolute location means Exact location on Earth's surface, given by using Latitude and Longitude .

Formal Regions: Have defined boundaries by gov (states, countries, cities) They are defined by similar characteristics
Functional Regions: regions defined by functions (Wall street, fashion district)
Vernacular Regions: regions defined by your perception (middle east, the south) argurable.
