In chemistry, atoms combine in a definite ratio to form a group termed as molecules. The atoms are elements that are present in the periodic table with each represented by a symbol.
For example, in H2SO4 i.e. sulfuric acid
H = hydrogen; S = sulfur and O = oxygen
The three elements combine in a ratio that balances the charge on the atoms to form a neutral molecule.
Such a representation is termed as a chemical formula
