Answer

The poem is a Horatian Satire because it brings out fun at the society’s excesses in order to advocate for change.

Explanation

Satire is the use of humor, exaggeration, irony or ridicule to expose and criticize lack of good sense in individuals especially in the context of contemporary politics and other existing issues. A Horatian ridicules opinions and beliefs of Ancient Rome and Greece with humor and clever mockery. This type of satire is gentle, lighthearted and tackles the lack of good sense such as self-conceit and arrogance. Alexander  Pope was a member of the upper-class of Catholic society where the poem happens, thus this poem mocks its excessive pretension and triviality.
