Hadley used some of Darwin´s evolutionist theory and adapted into economic thought,i.e. natural selection would in time make small companies dissappear. In other words, he thought that concentration of capital into monopoly was like Darwin´s "survival of the fittest". In this sense Hadley was all for Monopolies, admitting that some danger of abusing their power exists; however he also thought that monopolies would not abuse their power, simply because of fear of socialist revolt.
