1. Find the slope m of the line that passes through points (0,-3) and (2,3) using formula:

[tex]m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}.[/tex]

Then

[tex]m=\dfrac{3-(-3)}{2-0}=\dfrac{6}{2}=3.[/tex]

2. Write the equation, in point-slope form, of the line that is parallel  to the given line (note that parallel lines have the same slopes) and passes through the point (−1, −1):

[tex]y-(-1)=m(x-(-1)),\\ \\y+1=3(x+1).[/tex]

Answer: 3.
