A Parliamentary System of Government means that the executive branch of government has the direct or indirect support of the parliament.This support is usually shown by the vote of confidence. This brings what is called the responsible government which is the result of relationship between the executive and the legislature in the parliamentary system.

This system in India served the purpose because the legislature forms policies and laws that governs the nation. To ensure that these functions are duly followed, Constitution of India provides for two houses, which are the lower and the upper house.
