The intercepts are the points where the graph of the line crosses the x- and y-axes.
The x-intercept is the value of x where y=0. It can be found by putting y=0 into the equation and solving for x.
... 0 = 2x -5
... 5 = 2x
... 5/2 = x . . . . . . . the x-intercept is (x, y) = (5/2, 0), or x= 5/2.
___
The y-intercept is the value of y where x=0. It can be found by putting x=0 into the equation and solving for y.
... y = 2·0 -5
... y = -5 . . . . . . . . the y-intercept is (x, y) = (0, -5) or y= -5.
