Problem 6. Mike made a mistake in step 2: he added 2 to one side but didn't do the same thing to the other side. He should add 2 to both sides to balance out the equation. The proper step 2 should look like 2x-2+2 = 5+2 which turns into 2x = 7. After that, you divide both sides by 2 to get the final answer x = 7/2

Problem 7. The filled in table is shown in the attached image below. To get the proper values, you replace x with the values in the left column and use PEMDAS to simplify. For example,

y = -4x-9

y = -4*(-2)-9 ... replace x with -2

y = 8-9

y = -1

So -1 will go next to -2 for the first row of the table. The other rows are computed in a similar way.
