A floor of a room is in the shape of square. It is to be covered with rectangular tiles that each have an area of 192 square inches.If the length of the floor is 14 feet, how many tiles are needed to cover the floor?

so we have to convert the feet to inches since the area canot be converted
14 feet times 12=168 inches
area of floor=legtht times width
in a square, legnth=width
therefor
14 feet times 12=168 inches
legnth=168=width
area=168 times 168
area= 28224feet

so

so each tile covers 192  ft^2

so
28224 ft^2 is coverd by xnumberoftiles times areacoveredbyeachtile
28228=x times 192
divide both sides by 192
147=x
answer is 147 tiles
