Under very specific instructions, a jeweler made one ring for the queen and one ring for the princess. The gem on the queen's ring weighed 5/6 of a carat and the stone on the princess's ring weighed 1/3 of a carat. How much heavier was the stone on the queen's ring than the stone on the princess's?

First you need to find a common denominator which in this case is 6. knowing this you fractions would now be 5/6 or a carat and 2/6 of a carat.
5/6-2/6=3/6.

3/6 is equal to 1/2 so if you need to find the simplest form. Hope this helps!
