Hello!
The scientific name for the layer of gas that surrounds earth is called the atmosphere. There are 5 layers of the atmosphere. From inside out it goes: Troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and the exosphere.The atmosphere keeps us alive because it has oxygen inside of these gasses and also protects us from harmful UV rays.
