The Native People were impacted greatly. Their people were murdered while the Europeans raided and pillaged their villages. Additionally, the Europeans brought disease along which created an even higher death toll. These events has led to what is left of the Native groups in the U.S. Now they are the minority, constantly being oppressed.

The contact between the two groups affected the native peoples by exposing them to new technology, such as agricultural tools, and new weapons including gunpowder. Though the most impactful thing this contact exposed the natives to were new diseases they had no immunity to. Essentially, this contact had a detrimental affect on the native peoples, as it resulted in a loss of their lands, languages, and many lives. This is due to the fact they were not properly equipped to defend themselves against the Europeans new weapons or diseases.

The European arrivals were also affected by the indigenous peoples. They were introduced to the unique traditions of the native peoples of the Americas, including their intricate mythology, traditions, and agricultural techniques. Traditions including the weaving of colorful tapestries and the creation of resilient leather clothing such as moccasins. The Europeans were introduced to the inventive agricultural techniques of the Incas who grew crops in a harsh mountainous region of the Americas using efficient irrigation systems. In fact, many of these systems are being rebuilt today as they are more productive and efficient in terms of water usage. In conclusion, the Europeans gained much knowledge from the indigenous peoples of America, yet in return were neither respectful nor appreciative of the native Americans.
