To find the probability that the Hatfields will win the jobs, you will find the chance of the Hatfields getting the job in each of the three opportunities and then multiply these together. This process is the same for all three examples given.
Ex 1:
There are 4 Hatfields and 5 McCoys, so 4/9 chance for the first job. The second job there would be 3 Hatfields remaining and only 8 total, so 3/8. Finally there would be 2 Hatfields remaining if 2 of them got the first 2 jobs leaving a total of 7 possible.
4 3 2
9 x 8 x 7 = 1/21 chance
Ex 2:
3 2 1
6 x 5 x 4 = 1/20 chance
Ex 3:
4 3 2
10 x 9 x 8 = 1/30 chance
