The angles that are vertical angles are angles 1 with angle 3 AND angle 2 with angle 4. Vertical angles are described to be angles not adjacent to one another and are in a way “in front” of each other. Thus, as you can see angle 1 and 3 are opposite of one another (not side by side!) and the same goes for angle 2 and 4. Hope this helped :))
