Some consequences of the overpopulation of deer in the northeastern United States include the overeating of crops, and its effect on other animals' habitats. Because the deer feed on shrubs and crops, the habitable zone for animals, such as birds and squirrels, shrinks. Deer may also resort to eating the crops of farmers within that area, which directly affects the farmer's contribution to the total crop, and therefore the economy.
