Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that
allows infrared light to pass through but does not allow heat to escape from the earth surface and atmosphere.
Carbon dioxide levels will continue to increase in the future. Because carbon dioxide traps heat in the atmosphere, increased carbon dioxide levels would mean increased temperatures on Earth.
