Acetylene is a colorless, virtually odorless gas when it is pure (but it is usually attributed a characteristic garlic odor that comes from impurities). Acetylene is extremely flammable under normal temperature and pressure conditions.
First-aid measures :
After inhalation: Remove victim to uncontaminated area. Call a doctor. Apply artificial respiration or give him an oxygen mask if breathing stopped.After skin contact: For exposure to liquid, immediately warm the area with warm and tolerable water. Water temperature should be tolerable to normal skin. In case of massive exposure, remove clothing and seek medical evaluation and treatment as soon as possible.After eye contact: Immediately flush eyes thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes, and contact an ophthalmologist immediately.
