For patients
requiring organic nitrates ( Nitroglycerin), Sildenafil citrate is
contraindicated due to the risk for a
pharmacodynamic drug interaction that can result in severe hypotension (low
blood pressure) and death. Both drugs can cause the muscles that control the
size of the blood vessels to relax.
