The President of the United States was Abraham Lincoln. However, Jefferson Davis was elected president of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War.

This question often confuses people since Jefferson Davis was elected president of the Confederate States of America at the time. But Abraham Lincoln was actually the President during the civil war.

The president during the civil war was  Abraham Lincoln.
