Under King's rule, civil war broke out. Eventually Charles was executed. His brother, a Catholic, succeeded him, James II. Mary, his daughter, and her husband took the throne after him. Parliament passed the Act of Settlement. So George, Elector of Hanover, Germany, became King but he did not care for ruling the country very much.

Answer:

James I and his son Charles I caused the deterioration of England becuase at first when James I was ruling he demanded that the Parliament obey him even if the parliament did not think of him as a good ruler.  They did not trust him and had little faith in his rulership. James insisted  but the would not budge.  England was going down hill economically,  The rich were losing money and the poor were getting poorer. Inflation was going up too in the 1600's which affect all the population. James continued to fight the Parliment over money, foreign affairs and money and since the Parliment still did not trust him, James went after the Rich noblemen for loans.  After his death, his son Charles I came into power.  Charles I was not a great leader or assertive like his father.  He was a little better then his father as a person.  He was not so smart though becuase he got involved in wars with Spain and rance. He forced the people to pay for the military and forced the rich to house and pay for the expenses of the war. Charles I later removed the Parliament  however brought it back when he was desperate for financial help.
