They have African Americans voting rights, passed law against discrimination and got rid of segregated schools in Chicago.
Once the US Civil War was over, blacks from Chicago were allowed to approach better schools, more noteworthy access to public places and facilities, and they were also allowed to vote.
Because of World War 1, labor was required for Chicago's businesses. Those occupations were opened up to the black community. Payments were greatly improved when compared to what they were offered in the South. There was no formal segregation laws in in the city.
