In my collection of dimes and quarters, the number of quarters is five more than the number of dimes. If I only have 21 coins, how much is my collection worth?
PLEASE SHOW WORK!!!

Quarters = x
Dimes = y

x+ y = 21

x = y+5

(y+5) + y = 21

Simplify to:

2y = 16 => y = 8

x + 8 = 21

Solve for x:

x = 13

Dimes = 8
Quarters = 13

(8*10) + (13*25) = 80 + 325 = 405 cents

1 dollar = 100 cents, so the collection is worth $4.05.
