Colonists were mad by the taxes implemented by Britain without consent of colonists. A popular slogan that voiced this frustration was "No taxation without representation."
Though I don't see a section, I do know that the tension was sparked after the French and Indian War, after Britain won, they claimed land in the United States. The American colonies fought in this war, and they wanted to expand into the new territory. Unfortunately, Britain forbid them from expanding and everything went downhill after that. (The Stamp Act, Molasses Tax, Quartering Act)
