Response 1
Ahmet is a boy in the sixth grade. Not many of the other kids in the class pay much attention
to him. He and his best friend, Elias, like a lot of the same
things, including graphic novels.
Ahmet finds an old book with a warning against opening
the book printed on the cover.
Just
as he starts to read, the bell rings, and he stuffs the
book in his backpack. In homeroom, his
teacher Señor Fajardo doesn't call his name, and in PE,
Ahmet stays on the bench He feels
lucky until he sees his lab partner, who doesn't return his
greeting He decides to ask Elias
what's up at lunch, but Elias doesn't respond. Ahmet
gets angry, but then sees Elias
reflected
in the window-but he doesn't see himself! He runs to
the bathroom and realizes he's been
turned invisible by the book. He stuffs the book into a green messenger
bag, and his
reflection
returns. Relieved, he leaves. Señor Fajardo picks up the
bag without any idea of what might
HAppen next.
