In the 1600s, China experienced the nexus of three separate movements - the collapse of the Ming, the rise of the Qing and the entrance of Western trade into China. What impact did this nexus have on the state of the Qing Dynasty and frankly Asia in the 17th century? Be sure to reference the impact on life in Qing China (Ming Dynasty will be sufficient as well. The Qing rise to power in 1644.) I'm looking for you to show me that you can summarize and explain what the state of China was in the 17th century. You will be able to achieve that by going through all of your lecture material and reading. Once you have completed that, you should be able to summarize / analyze what the state of China was in this pivotal century.
I have no minimum / maximum requirements per se or word counts in your response. Each of you will be at different levels of writing ability which will affect the length of your answer. What I am interested in is two things:
1. State your opinion as thoroughly as possible.
2. Use historical / factual detail to back up your opinion. I would expect that for each point you raise you should be referencing 2-4 concrete historical facts to back up your analysis. This will be vital in your answer.
It is not enough to have an opinion. Everyone has an opinion. But can you back it up with facts?
