Over the years, the role of nurses has become increasingly complex in advancing and delivering the healthcare system. The latest report by the IOM emphasizes the importance of nurses as part of this significant change. Joel, 2017 (The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health (IOM, 2011) ) . As a nurse, I have found the Situational or Contingency Leadership Theory to be a valuable asset in my professional practice. Its application can be instrumental in enhancing leadership skills and effectively responding to various situations in the work environment. This approach considers learners' knowledge and skill levels, colleagues' experience and expertise, and patients' unique needs, resulting in more efficient learning, a nurturing work environment, and better patient outcomes. In my role as a leader, I take a situational approach by carefully assessing the maturity and skills of my team members and then adapting my leadership style to suit their needs best. Additionally, applying situational leadership theory can be relevant to patient interactions. As a nurse, I carefully understand each patient's unique background and level of understanding. I implement a patient-centered approach to enhance communication, empower patients in their healthcare decisions, and improve health outcomes. In conclusion, the situational or contingency leadership theory is helpful in my role as a nurse. As a leader, I take pride in my ability to adapt and customize my approach to address the unique needs of the individuals I work with, whether they are learners, peers, employees, or patients. My ultimate goal is to provide guidance and support that enables them to grow and develop. This may entail providing constructive feedback, setting achievable goals, and supplying ample resources to facilitate learning. I am fully committed to creating a positive and supportive environment that fosters the advancement and success of all individuals.
