RESPONSE TO THE NUN'S PRIEST'S TALE IMPORTANT NOTE All written projects in this course are to be written using either Times New Roman 12 point or Arial 12 point black font. Paragraphs must be properly indented or double-spaced between paragraphs as directed by your teacher. After reading all the directions below, complete your project as directed below (or as instructed by your teacher): How is the story of Chanticleer mock-heroic? What story elements or writing techniques does Chaucer use to lengthen this simple tale? These are the questions you will answer in this project. Here is your goal for this assignment: Write an analysis of the content and structure of "The Nun's Priest's Tale." Beowulf is a heroic tale; "The Nun's Priest's Tale" is mock-heroic. In what ways does Chaucer use "The Nun's Priest's Tale" to ridicule the heroic style? Increased length is a clear result; name other story elements or writing techniques Chaucer uses. Consider such things as humor, elevated language, stories-within-stories, character development, moral lessons, and other elements. Do not just list these things; explain them and give direct examples (quotes—with line numbers) from the tale as evidence. Be sure to document your citations according to MLA style. Click here for a handout of the MLA style guidelines. Organize your findings into an essay of at least 400 words. Your essay will be graded based on the following: your attention to the instructions given above well developed coverage of your topic use of proper punctuation, spelling, grammar, and sentence construction (commonly called "conventions"), proper citations, and appropriate length NOTE: Check with your teacher to determine whether there may be other special requirements. This project will be graded using the essay rubric.
