1. Describe the people that worked in various capacities to bring your chosen luxury item to you. For example, who tended the plants and harvested them? Who owns the plantations where the plants were grown? Who packaged, stored, and shipped the product? Finally, who sold the product to you? Consider each person's role in this industry and reflect on who benefits (or not) from this industry and in what ways the industry affects their lives.
2. Share your findings regarding the monetary cost to produce your chosen luxury item. How much did the company profit off of your purchase? How would you evaluate the human and/or environmental cost of the product? How do you think companies might try to increase profits from the product?
3. Based on your experience doing this activity, what do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of the coffee, tea, and cacao industries involved in making the luxury items?
