Most of the texts you read in this module were written in response to a situation that the author found troubling or unjust. What situations need reforming today? What caused these situations? How might they best be resolved?

Describe one aspect of American society that needs reform or improvement. Then compare and/or contrast that “cause” to one of the issues or movements written about in this module. As you connect your cause to those early reform movements, include textual evidence from the work of Americans writing in the second half of the 19th century.
