After learning of Macduff's escape to England, Macbeth commits to murdering Macduff's
family stating "No boasting like a fool; this deed I'll do before this purpose cool" (Act
4.Scene 1. Lines 174-175). Considering these and other lines in the play, why is it
necessary for Macbeth and/or Lady Macbeth to "turn off thought and emotion before
committing violence? What does this tell us about how people develop into evildoers?
