Dear
Friend,
We have arrived at our new homestead. There is a beautiful river close by. The
trees are abundant and varied. There are many wildflowers. The soil is dark and
rich. During our first week, it has rained two days and been sunny the rest of the
time. We have enjoyed warm days and cool nights. The settlers who have lived
here for some time have told us that the winters are mild, so the growing season
is long. I believe we have found a good place to live.
