have been declaring that the end of the
high-street is right around the corner.
But despite year-after-year increases in
online sales, the high street manages to
cling on to life. That's not to say though
that it hasn't had to evolve in order to
survive the new realities of life and
leisure.
Susie Wang, lead researcher of the retail
"thinktank" Shop No Drop, says: "There's
no doubt that the rise of internet
shopping giants have challenged the
high street." But the highstreet has
proved surprisingly adaptable. More
cafes, takeaways and niche, experience-
