When we think about a tree house, an image of a beloved
children's hideaway high up in a tree may pop up in our heads,
an image, perhaps, from our own childhood. A tree house is
often thought of as a place where adolescents can escape
from parents or annoying siblings. But times are changing.
These days, tree houses are in vogue with adults, too. Some
maintain that tree-house living is a way to keep their sense of
wonder and adventure stimulated. They enjoy the idea of
catering to their "inner child," regardless of their chronological
age. Whether they are free-spirited yuppies, eco-centric off-
gridders, or retiring baby boomers, many envision living in a
home closer to the sky than to the ground.
